A FAMILY BUSINESS
Matthew’s Smokehouse, formerly the Deer Harbor Inn Restaurant, is owned & operated by Matthew “Chef” Carpenter. Moved to the San Juan Islands with his parents & siblings when he was just 3 years old, Matt called the Deer Harbor Inn his home when his parents took over the restaurant, then a delicious seafood & steak joint. It was run for years by his parents, & then taken over by Matt & his brother as the same restaurant, then in 2020 was transitioned to the delicious smokehouse barbecue joint it is today with Matthew as sole proprietor.
Matt is joined by his wife, Emily, & their six sons, Kaiden, Kirin, Eli, Finn, Theo, & Dash.
